F1 Specific Rules 

The on-track rules as stated below must be adhered to at all times failure to do so may result in the 
offending Driver being penalised by official WEL Tournament Officials.

1. Driving 
At no point may a car be driven in a manner which could be deemed potentially dangerous to other 
drivers.
Unsportsmanlike driving and behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.
This includes any manoeuvre, Intentional or not that is deemed reckless or dangerous 

2. Overtaking and Defending 
The act of overtaking manoeuvre is initiated when the trailing car's front wing overlaps with the lead 
car's rear wing, the overtake is completed when the trailing car's rear wing is ahead of the lead car's 
front wing.

The responsibility of overtaking safely rests with the overtaking driver, although the leading driver 
should be aware when a driver is attempting an overtaking and defend in a safe manner within the 
rules of defending a position 

The leading car generally has the right to choose any racing line so long as it is not considered to 
deny another vehicle with an adequate racing room.
Racing room is considered roughly a car's width measured from outside of the white lines defining 
the track limits.

If the trailing car only has there front wheel or less alongside the leading car at no point later than 
the corners turn in point it is considered that the leading driver has the right to choose any line and 
it is the responsibility of the trailing car to avoid contact between the two vehicles.

Once a trailing car has there front wheel alongside the driver cockpit position of the leading car it is 
considered that the trailing has the right to be there, and the leading driver must leave the trailing 
car sufficient racing room.

If the trailing car has there front wheel ahead of the lead car's rear wheel but behind the driver's 
cockpit position at no later point than the corners turn in point it is considered that both drivers 
have a reasonable claim to contest the corner, it may be determined in the event of a collision that no 
single driver is responsible providing that no other rule is broken and would be deemed a racing 
incident however this is a grey area depending on the situation either driver could be held 
responsible for any collision.

3. Blocking 
Blocking another driver when defending a position is not allowed.
Blocking is defined as making two or more consecutive line changes to defend a position which 
impedes a vehicle that is trying to pass with each consecutive movement.
Making a line change after the attacking car has already made a line change to attempt a overtake 
and is within reasonable distance of the defending car may also be seen as blocking.

4. Moving Under Braking
Making a line change in the braking zone is not allowed 

5. Brake Check/Brake Test
Unjustified braking or lifting of the throttle with another driver close behind outside of the normal 
braking zone, causing a collision or forcing the following driver to swerve or otherwise react to avoid
contact is not allowed

6. Excessive weaving 
When driving on a straight no more than 2 line changes are allowed, excessive line changes to brake 
a slipstream or force another driver to take avoiding action is not allowed 

7. Leaving the track
All driver's are expected to make every reasonable effort to remain on the track at all times and may 
not deliberately leave the track without a justifiable reason (the track is defined by the white lines 
that indicate the track limits) any driver who leaves the track should rejoin at the earliest 
opportunity providing they return in a safe manner and without gaining any lasting advantage or 
causing any lasting disadvantage to another driver.

8. Returning a position
If a driver has gained a position as a result of prohibited on track behaviour this includes leaving the 
circuit or causing avoiding contact shall be expected to give back the position within a reasonable 
timeframe whether instructed by the game or not

9. Track Limits 

All driver's are required to stay within the white lines with at least 2 wheels at all times on the track, 
if a driver is exceeding track limits without being penalised by the game itself then that driver may 
be investigated by WEL Tournament Officials 

For the avoidance of any doubt the white (sometimes yellow) lines defining track limits are 
considered to be part of the track whereas the kerbs are not.
Unless otherwise specified before the race all driver's must not cross the solid white lines at the pit 
entry and pit exit with a full wheel or more. Dotted lines may be crossed.

10. Blue Flags 
When being lapped every driver is obliged to respect the blue flag rules meaning any driver is 
expected to let the following car past at the earliest opportunity. A lapped car is only allowed to 
unlap themselves when are sufficiently faster than the car they are unlapping themselves from and 
are able to drive away from them at a reasonable pace once overtaken.

11. Impeding during qualifying
Obstructing, blocking or otherwise disadvantaging without a valid reason another vehicle who is on a 
qualifying run i.e on a 'hot lap' is not allowed.

12. AI mode 
The usage of AI mode is allowed, providing no advantage is gained or if another driver is impeded or 
otherwise negatively affected.

Using ai mode is at all times the sole responsibility of the driver themselves, they may be penalised 
for any and all behaviour from their AI.

13. Driving unnecessarily slow 
During qualifying a car may not be driven unnecessarily slowly or in a manner that could be deemed 
potentially dangerous or impeding to other drivers.
Driving unnecessarily slow to gain an advantage or cause any disadvantage to another driver is not 
allowed at all time. This includes but is not limited to any SC/VSC procedures and the pit lane 
entry/exit.

14. Reset to Track Function
Driver's are not allowed to use the reset to track function during any session. The only exception 
being if they are 'beached' on a kerb or other surface. The responsibility to do this safely without 
causing any disadvantage to other drivers lies solely with the driver using this function.
When using the reset to track function footage may be requested by the WEL officials after the race 
has concluded to ensure that the driver was indeed 'beached' failing to provide footage upon 
request or using the function in any other scenario may be penalised.

15. Manually Retiring 
Driver's may not retire their car out on track. At all times when a driver wants to retire manually 
they must do so in the pit lane, if a driver intentionally causes terminal damage to car or manually 
leaves the session without first retiring their car in the pit lane they may be penalised.

16. Marker boards 
Intentionally damaging or destroying the marker boards is not allowed. This includes but is not 
limited to, the 150m, 100m, 50m, pit and drs boards
17. SC/VSC Procedures
During any sc or vsc period, when a driver experiences a negative (red) delta time, it is their own 
responsibility to slow down in a way that does not impede and/or could be deemed dangerous to 
other drivers. 
During any sc or vsc period, a driver may not drive unnecessarily slowly to impede another driver. 
experiencing a significant positive (green) delta time is prohibited, in case this disadvantages another 
driver. 
In order to avoid the likelihood of accidents during any sc or vsc period, all drivers must maintain a 
pace which involves no erratic acceleration or braking nor any other manoeuvre that is likely to 
impede other drivers. 
On sc/vsc restarts drivers should not go alongside one another. up until the restart, all drivers should 
remain in single file.
Overtaking before the start/finish line is prohibited.

18. Game penalties
Penalties and/or track-limit warnings issued by the game itself are only eligible for removal if all of 
the criteria stated below are met
i. The penalty and/or warning has not yet been served in any way.
ii. No significant advantage has been gained and/or disadvantage has been caused.
iii. The full Race Director of the Driver in question is provided to the Officials
In case of a track-limit warning and/or penalty, in addition to the criteria above, the following criteria 
must also be met
The Driver has, through no fault of their own, no other option but to leave the track to avoid an 
incident and /or the Driver is, through no fault of their own, unfairly forced off-track by another 
Driver, which directly leads to an in-game penalty and/or warning being applied to the respective 
Driver.
In case the Driver has, throughout the entire race, received any other warnings than track-limit 
warnings, footage of these warnings must also be provided. In case this cannot be provided, the 
warning will be counted by the Officials as a track-limit warning.
When an in-game penalty and/or warning does not meet all of the criteria above, it will not be 
removed by the Officials.

Incident Reports 
To Report a Incident for review please create a support ticket for the tournament staff to review 
when creating a incident the following must be included 
Driver Username submitting the report
Driver Username who the report is against 
Track where the incident occurred 
Lap of the incident
Description of the incident
Footage of the incident 

If a time penalty is being contested screenshot of the race director

All Reports must be submitted within the deadline 24 hours after the race has concluded.

Invites to the lobby will be sent out 20 minutes before the race is scheduled to start

To ensure this is ran in a smooth manner driver’s must make sure they have their EA ID on the 
Esports Wales Hub and have the lobby Host added in advance.

All driver’s should be in the lobby minimum 5 minutes before the race starts. 

Car’s Liveries must be their Team colours which match their teammate and be identifiable as that 
respected team
