Welsh Masters 2023 are required to have 2/5 or 3/6 Welsh players. This requirement ensures that the national team is composed of Welsh players, and helps to promote the development of the esports scene in Wales.


Dota 2 Specific Rules 

  1. Format: The tournament will consist of a single elimination best of 1 and a best of 3 finals. 

  2. Match settings: All matches will be played in Captain's Mode using the latest version of Dota 2. 

  3. Scheduling: Teams are responsible for contacting their opponents to schedule their matches at the arranged time. Matches must be scheduled and played within the designated time frame for each round.

  4. Disconnections: If a player disconnects during a match, the game may be paused and resumed at the discretion of the teams. If the player is unable to reconnect, the game may be resumed with a stand-in or forfeited.

  5. Substitutions: Teams are allowed to make substitutions between matches, but not during a match.

  6. Fair play: All players are expected to behave in a sportsmanlike manner and respect their opponents. Cheating, foul language, and other unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification.

  7. Prize distribution: Prize money will be distributed among the top teams according to the tournament rules.

- Play-In Qualifier Group:
- Teams will be seeded randomly.
- Single Elimination (BO1) among teams from each group.

C. Determining a winner
1. The first team to destroy the opponent’s Ancient.
2. If “GG” is called by either team in All Chat, the countdown timer shall not be
canceled, and it will count as a concession to the other team.
3. In the case of a dispute, the referee shall decide.
D. Tiebreakers
If a number of participants are tied by win-loss difference at the end of a group stage, their
ranking order will be decided as described below. Only the matches between the tied teams will
be taken into consideration.
● Head-to-head result, if not applicable;
● Kill/Death Ratio;
● Coin-toss
In a case of a three-way-tie or five-way-tie, after each resolved tie, the process is repeated for
the remaining tied participants.
In special cases, the Referee can rule in a different way to determine the order in an unsolved
tie (i.e. coin toss).

- Selection priority is determined by the Lobby Setting - Automatic (Coin Toss) /

- Game Mode: Captains mode
- Server: Europe west.
- Selection Priority: Automatic (Coin Toss).
- Enable cheats: Disabled
- Fill empty slots with bots: Disabled
- All chat: Enabled (It can be used only in pause for information, chat wheels and
tipping).
- Version: Tournament
- Broadcasting & Observing: Enabled (Observers and broadcasters to manually
set 6 minutes in-game delay and 4 minutes delay on the streaming software).
- Spectator: Enabled (Only for broadcast & observer(s))
